For heaven’s sake, loosen up! We are programmed for joy, laughter and fun. All the seriousness we are taught to adopt from school and society is just a bad habit, set up to stifle our natural, inner light of contagious, home-made, dopamine.
Dopamine is a chemical in the body linked to feelings of reward – it’s a celebratory emotion. Sometimes an artificial frisson of joy can happen from external sources, events or acquisitions, but that those are invariably transitory – and often highly dangerous, sometimes to the point of fatality. Artificial stimulation of joy is never going to equal the 24/7, high octane emotion which comes from a permanently ignited source of inner happiness; but how do you acquire such a permanent quality?
To find sources of inner joy, one must first connect the Human to the Being more often. The Human thrives on food and water; the Being thrives on love, light and humour. To obtain love, we have to be more loving and to obtain light, we have to harness that love within every cell and compound it gratefully with increased compassion, forgiveness and acceptance. We also have to learn to see, and appreciate, the amusing side of situations – especially when they relate to us. Finally, we have to wish to make a difference for the better for those we love and for mankind in general – and to become that change. These are all equally vital parts of the Find Joy Spectrum and the more often one connects to them, the longer they remain embedded in the psyche, until they reside there 24/7, eternally linked to the infinite source of power from the Being.
Most people function with candle flickerings of happiness. Becoming the change we wish to see and connecting to all parts of the Find Joy Spectrum will turn up and empower that internal wattage to floodlit levels and melt away the starch of seriousness, stress and anxiety.
